2/26/2020 News Feed

The News Feed on February 26, 2020 at around 6:00pm has activity, but not pushing stories. Compared to last night with the South Carolina debate, it is just an active news cycle, reporting daily news. The feed is a variety, ranging topics about the economy, politics, and retrospectives about the debate last night. A major event today was the Milwaukee Molson Coors Shooting, which, at the time of writing this, is a developing story.

The Shooting in Milwaukee, with the information I have at the moment of writing this, is that a former employee started to shoot in the facility. The company sent out an emergency text message for everyone to find somewhere safe. The police arrived at the scene and subdue the gunman. Reportedly, they are casualties with the shooter taken out.

I read this story on CNN and the story was updating as information has been coming out. It notified me when it updated and the updates were in reverse chronological order. CNN Online has reliable information and is near the neutral line of bias compared to their broadcast counterpart.

Majority of the story during this time are not major hits, the Milwaukee shooting will be covered for, give or take, five to six days, before being pushed to the online website and passing remarks on air. In addition, the journalists covering the events are quick and making sure they get the information correct, putting the big quote or statistics about the event as headlines before discussing what transpired.

2/25/2020 New Feed

The News Feed for February 25th 2020, is full of the Democratic Debate in South Carolina. Most of the news outlets are live-reporting about the debate, with some like ABC News and CNN saying how Bernie Sanders will be the target, since winning Nevada. Most of the websites are live reporting it, with bold updates timestamps of the update. The headlines are titled with the South Carolina Democratic Debate, signalling what the article will be about.

The reporters/journalists live reporting the event are using similar edit remarks to a live-blog, where they will post the general information about the event, the people, and history of the event. It then updates reverse chronological order, with the most recent thing said by the candidates about and general summary of events. It is orderly with constant updates and remarks. In addition, information is from recent events, like Mike Bloomberg onslaught leads to him hosting a town hall before the event and Berine Sander win of Nevada and new media attention over some comments about Cuba development. Overall, it recaps the recent debates to see where they are.

Another thing I notice while writing this article, is how much attention is put on speaking time between the candidates as CNN posted a graph on after the first commercial break. In addition, quick recaps of how the first minutes were the candidates swing at Bernie Sanders, questioning his policies.

In other news, more on the Coronavirus, with it not taking certain states and talking about how its affects the economy and how nations are responding to it. The US navy is screening personally entering the boat now.

All of the media convert is on the Debate, with headlines of fact checking statements made, quotes from the candidates on issues they have with one another and the system, a whole coverage of the event.

2/24/2020 New Feed

The News Feed in my Twitter list is focused on two major events. The first being the live converge of Kobe Bryant and his daughter’s funeral in LA Staple center. The second one is Harvey Weinstein’s verdict. After those two events, minor pockets or small articles about the democratic nominees and the coronavirus.

The funeral for the late Kobe Bryant and his daughter, the media are using and pulling quotes from the speakers at the event. People like Shaq, Michael Jordan, and Jimmy Kimmely with them in tears with what they say about their late friend. It shows how much it is to lose a friend and try to honor him. It also links to the broadcasting of said event.

The Weinstein’s trail ends with a guilty verdict to the Hollywood producer. The NY Times article I read about the ending is a live-update, so it updates as more information is verified. The article outlines that Weinstein is guilty of two counts of sexual assault and first and three degree rape. The article details how the Jury made that decision and that the Foreman commented that this was long. In addition, it details the women who took the stand and that Weinstein’s lawyer will issue an appeal. The article lays out information about the case, the victims, and the personnel involved in the trial.

The journalists covering the events are doing so quick and thoughtful. With the funeral, they are referencing what is going on right there and pulling quotes from the speakers, making it easy to understand how heartfelt this event was. With the Weinstein trail, they must have researched the cases and trails before reporting on the end of the trail. Overall the presentation of the articles are good.
