For my final project, I decided to go with making a Fan Video. Before the final project was announced, I was planning on making a fan video to test out an editing software by RA recommend me before we had to move out. It was inspired by how some people used anime clips to make music videos (called AMVs) and wanted to make one with gameplay. Now with the project, I was excited to test it and get a grade for it!
The song is a Japanese Song called: Power to Tearer. The song was made under the Avex Entertainment Company, a Japanese company and it was an insert theme for the Japanese Hero show: Kamen Rider OOO. It was theme song for one of heroes transformations, PuToTyra Combo (Ptrea, Tricera, Tyranno).

In the show, the form was one of the strongest and the most dangerous as the user could go on a rampage, destroying his foes and allies alike. The song complements it with heavy guitar rifts and fast-pace motion.
For the footage, I chosen Monster Hunter World Iceborne, since:
- I have an Xbox that can capture footage and uploads it to Xbox Live, so I can download it onto my computer.
- The monsters in the game are extremely difficult. With different move sets to throw off players and how brutal and savage they are, fitting the song.
- I did not want to deal with the legal trouble of ripping tv media and figuring out how to do it.
The filming process took about two days, since I did not know what shots I needed and that the video game could throw me a curve ball when I would go hunt these monsters. So I soon I feel like a good scene or shot when I played, I record it and later download to see it later.
With the song being about brutal, savage, and face-place and a game that has monsters that are brutal, savage, and face-place at times; it was the best match!
The edit software I used was called: HitFilm Express. It is a free editing software that is similar to Adobe Premier, I suggest if doing this course again or this project, that you recommend it as it is pretty good usable. Though, I had to look help a tutorial on how to do certain things, it was easy after that.
For the high-octane sound track, I made sure to include guitar shots made in game to highland the rifts. That was a process as I filmed about 26 clips of that in different locations and angles. With the edits, I sped them up to keep in line the high-octane track and put the special moves, explosions, mounts, etc at key movements on the track. When a monster roars, I tried to put it over when the singer yelled Power to Tearer or PuToTyra, or when I mounted a monster, I put over the chorus. I used mostly hard cuts because it gives that impact similar to the monster I was fighting against. This was used in great effect when I mounted Nergigante and slice back-to-back shot of the guitar rifts before hard cutting to a black screen when the music dies down for about 5 frames before coming back with force (3:20 is the start of the scene). That part always brings a smile to my face.
With the video, I wanted to show the brutality, savagery, and monstrosity of the monsters in the game as well as highlight that a player can overcome a monstrosity opponent. Overall, I wanted to highlight the song as I personal enjoy the Kamen Rider Soundtracks and want to make sure I give it justice.
In total: I filmed 82 clips that are 45 seconds to 1 minute long, 26 of them being me with a hunting horn (the name of the weapon type) guitar in three different regions, fought Banbaro, Beotodus, Barioth, Viper Tobi-Kadachi, Ebony Odogaron, Leginia, Zinogre, Styigan Zinogre, Brute Tigrex, Raging Brachydios, Furious Rajang, Gold Rathian, and two Elder Dragons (The Strongest Monsters to Hunt) Kulve Taroth, and Ruiner Nergigante. This was a blast to work on and it brings a huge smile to my face. Enjoy the GMV and Power to Tearer!!
